SNAPPY TITLE: FROM THE HEART took place on Sunday 21st February 2010 at the Pigalle Club in Piccadilly. Just one week after Valentine's Day, can the magic of love linger on? This theme was explored in songs from new musicals by exciting new writers and performed by a host of West End professionals.

MINMAY THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES “NORTHERN LINE”

It’s 6:15 and a teenaged girl from the Welsh countryside steps off the train at Paddington Station. She is alone, pregnant, and scared. Johnny gave her his address at the end of the tour and said to write, but she hasn’t heard anything. Little does she know that the address doesn’t exist, and her entire world will change by the end of the day...

Set in the Mid-1980’s, NORTHERN LINE is a new take on a continental classic. Adapted from the GIRPS Theatre classic LINIE 1 by Volker Ludwig (Book and Lyrics) and Birger Heymann (Score), NORTHERN LINE is a look at London through they eyes of an outsider as the city becomes a character. Part revue, part drama, NORTHERN LINE is a youth-oriented musical with a strong rock-pop score.

The original LINIE 1 is an international hit, becoming a mainstay of German repertoire for over 20 years and playing extended and repertory runs in Korea (15 years), India, Lithuania, and Spain. Unlike most musicals, international productions of LINIE 1 are extensively adapted to reflect local concerns, settings, and issues. Rarely seen in English since 1988, Minmay Theatre Company’s new adaptation will be the first time LINIE 1 has been localised for a British setting.

A translated score reading is scheduled for 10 January and will be music directed by Maggie Copeland (HEAR ME NOW, LAST CHOIR STANDING). Casting and audition details to be posted soon.

A behind the scenes look at this production will also be blogged for Broadwayworld.com’s West End division. Posts will begin shortly.

NORTHERN LINE is produced by Minmay Theatre Company under license from Verlag Autorenagentur GmbH. The London adaptation is by Jonathon Collis. The production’s website will be http://www.northernlinemusical.co.uk/
